About the Data

About the Grants Data

Eagle Eye merges grant data from two sources. The narrative description of each grant comes from the Catalogue of Federal Domestic Assistance or "CFDA" for short. The spending details come from the Federal Acquisition Award Data System, or "FAADS." Several important core data elements including the Recipient Parent and Recipient Congressional District are enhanced fields provided by Eagle Eye researchers. Currently sub-grant information is not reported by any agency and is not included here.

GrantsWeb Advanced's annual grant records include awards by all Defense and Civilian agencies to a range of recipients including state and local governments, universities and non-profit institutions, individuals and private companies. Currently at least one significant source of grant spending, the US Agency for International Development (USAID), does not report its grant spending through FAADs.

About the Contracts Data

The source of this data is the FPDS-NG data collection system administered by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). Several important data elements including Parent Company and Congressional District are enhanced fields provided by Eagle Eye researchers.

These 1.2 million annual prime contracts are all unclassified and awarded directly to vendors by federal government agencies. FPC Web Advanced includes awards by all Defense and Civilian agencies receiving appropriated funds. Agencies that generate their own sources of revenue, like the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) are not currently required to report through this system. Additionally, contracts issued by classified agencies, Congress and the Court system are not currently reported through FPDS-NG and are not included here.
